Windows Server Active Directories
Let’s learn about windows Server Active Directories. So, What is an active Directory? Windows active Directory is a service provided by Microsoft to help the domain and server administrators to manage the privileges of users. And assign them different groups according to their tasks.
Let’s learn it in a layman’s term by taking an example. This example was given by my Instructor. Let’s say we are in a university. There are different departments like accounts, HR, Computer Science, ERP department etc. All have some staff members they have access to their department and department related stuff but they can’t use other department’s things/stuff without proper permissions. Similarly Windows active directory service is the service that makes it possible to set the policies for the users in the domain or network.
When you are an employee of an organization or like you are admitted in a university, they provide you an email that is registered on their domain. Where is all that controlled. It is controlled on servers. All the authentication is done on the Active Directory enabled servers. It checks whether the user have access to the domain, user is valid, it has access to the resource it’s trying to access and all that.
