Farm and Garden Assistant

Hey there!! Today I am writing this regarding an idea that I want to work on to develop and solve a problem using the technology. As technology is covering all the circles of life. I want to use technology to help the farmers around.

In Pakistan 18% GDP comes from agriculture sector, and they are least affected by technology. This government is helping the farmers in many ways like using the Drones on the Crops to spill the fertilizers.

I am talking about a smart phone app to help the farmers in their work by helping them identify the problems in the plants that is done using the machine learning and Digital Image Processing using computer Vision. This app will help the farmers in a lot of ways like helping them yield more crops and with better health.

This system can help the farmer in knowing about its crops like how much water they need, which month is best for harvesting and things like that.

The idea came from the thought that why farmers should be left underprivileged of the technology and its advancements. We can have them to grow more crops and let them help in boosting the economy. Moreover they play an important role in our daily life as they provide food for us then why not help them.

I am thinking of android app for the start. The app will have many features to help and accommodate different problems that are faced by farmers and gardeners. There are many type of diseases that aren’t known to the farmers they just put the fertilizers and pesticides and insecticides and that destroys the plants badly or affect the health.

The app will be comprise of following features:

1. Disease Detection: this feature will use camera or photo from gallery and process the image to identify the disease in the plant.
2. Crop Assistant: Tells the user that how much fertilizer, water is needed for specific crops and which season is for the crops
3. Weather update: Weather update of the area including the next 4 days to help the farmers think ahead
4. Market Rates: Current Market Rates of different crops.
5. Urdu Language Support: Urdu Language Support for farmers
6. Text To Speech: to read the content to the users (farmers)
7. Speech to text: Speech to text feature to help them type.

The app will be made easy to use and User friendly to accommodate all kind of users. and do the task properly what it supposed to do. So that’s all for my idea, comments and reviews are appreciated.
